Background
Alternative Contracting Method (ACM): The traditional contracting method is Design-Bid-Build (D-B-B). ACMs in this training include Design-Build (D-B), and Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM-GC).
Design-Build (D-B): A project delivery system in which both the design (some portion thereof) and the construction of the project are simultaneously awarded to a single entity.
Construction Manager-General Contractor (CM-GC): A contract between an owner and a construction manager who will be at risk for the final cost and time of construction. In this agreement, the owner authorizes the construction manager to provide input during project design.
